What we learned from helping learners pass
We’ve learned what actually makes the difference between passing and failing.
Not more theory, but understanding the exam format and knowing what a good answer looks like.
Over the past years, we’ve helped hundreds of learners pass their inburgering exams through private lessons.
That gave us a clear picture of what actually matters if you want to pass.
Most people don’t fail because they don’t know Dutch.
They struggle because:
- the exam format is new
- the questions are different from what they practiced
- writing and speaking are harder than expected
-
KNM is often underestimated
Through this, we learned what works and what you really need to know to pass the exam.
Not more theory, but:
- understanding the exam format
- recognizing the types of questions
- knowing what a good answer looks like
That’s what this module is built around.
What’s included
The module covers all parts of the A2 inburgering exams:
- Reading
- Listening
- Writing
- Speaking
- KNM course
- KNM practice exams
For reading, listening, writing and speaking, you get 6 full practice exams per skill.
Each one follows the structure and level of the official exams.
Is this for me?
This module is for you if you:
- are preparing for the inburgering A2 exam
- have completed A1 and A2
- want to practice the real exam format
- want feedback on your writing and speaking
- want to feel more confident before the exam
It’s especially useful if you already understand Dutch at A2 level, but are not yet comfortable with the exam itself.
Practice like the real exam
Everything is designed to feel familiar when you sit the actual exam.
- Reading: texts with multiple-choice questions
- Listening: audio with exam-style questions
- Writing: tasks similar to what you’ll get in the exam
- Speaking: listen, respond, and record your answer
The format is not simplified.
It’s intentionally close to the real thing.
Feedback where it matters
For writing and speaking, you get instant feedback powered by our own AI model, trained on real exam-style exercises.
You speak or write, and immediately see:
- what can be improved
- how your answer is evaluated
- a strong example answer that would be accepted in the exam
This also works for speaking.
You record your answer, and the system analyzes how you respond, so you can adjust and improve right away.
KNM: full course + practice
KNM is included as a complete course that covers everything you need to know for the exam.
It includes all required topics, such as:
- work and finances
- government and institutions
- living and housing
- healthcare and wellbeing
- education and development
- society, behavior, and history
Everything is explained in a clear and practical way, focused on what you’re expected to understand for the exam.

Important: start this at the right moment
A2 or B1?
The level you need for the inburgering exam depends on when you became required to integrate.
In most cases:
- If you were required to integrate before 1 January 2022, you usually need A2 level
- If you became required to integrate from 1 January 2022 onwards, you usually need B1 level
This change is part of the new inburgering system introduced in 2022.
Important to know
- Not everyone falls under the same rules
- Some learners follow different routes or have exceptions
- Your exact requirement is always confirmed by DUO or your municipality
If you’re unsure, it’s best to check your personal situation.
What this means for you
This module prepares you for the A2 inburgering exams.
For many learners, especially those under the previous system, A2 is the level required to pass.
Planning to go for B1?
If you fall under the new system, you will likely need to reach B1 level.
We are currently building a B1 inburgering module, based on the same approach:
- real exam practice
- speaking and writing feedback
- full exam preparation
This will be added once the B1 course is fully completed.
Where should you start?
If you're not sure yet, starting with A2 is the most practical step.
It helps you:
- understand the exam format
- build confidence
- prepare for the next level if needed
